Personal Identity, Part 2: Strengthening the Self through Integration and in Christ
Duration: 1 hr. 37 min.
CE Credits: 1.50
In the second part of his “Identity” series, Ian Butler, LMHP, identifies specific ways to strengthen and heal a weak identity. This workshop focuses on emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual means to develop a strong identity including the technique of writing an “integration letter” to aid in identity integration. Butler also explores the division of the ego and the defense mechanisms a person can develop to compensate for a weak identity. He explains how the three elements of a defense mechanism manifest themselves in the “drama triangle” of persecutor, rescuer, and victim. Finally, Butler demonstrates how Jesus Christ is the example of healthy identity integration. This webinar is 1 hour and 37 minutes.
At the end of this seminar participants will:
- Explain the key components needed to strengthen a weak identity and heal a wounded identity.
- Describe some practices to strengthen identity emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually.
- Identify defense mechanisms and their role in the drama triangle.
